Mr. Lawton Tam (Formerly Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO))"The book will be invaluable for those who have not had formal education in spatial data and spatial data systems. Based on what I have read, I wish I had your book when I was working. I cant speak for others at MTO at the time, but I know I would have benefited greatly from it.Professor Dongmei Chen (Department of Geography, Queens University, Kingston, Ontario) "I think this is one of the best books on the theory and practice of spatial database systems. I really enjoyed reading the book, especially the easy-to-understand language used to explain concepts/terms/methods. It is structured very well and easy to follow. Each chapter is a complete part and can be read separately without referring to other chapters. I would recommend this book as a reference to everyone who is interested in spatial databases.Professor Piotr Jankowski, San Diego State UniversityThe book does a very good job of organizing and explaining the richness of database concepts and techniques and can become a major reference source for understanding spatial database methods and applications. The material is presented in sufficient depth to use the book either as a reference source for professionals or as textbook for an advanced undergraduate/graduate course. There are many innovative chapters such as 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12, which set this book apart from other books. Overall, the book does seem to be a better approach than what has been offered thus far.
